505 | 0 | _aI don't go in for personal heroes but I do have one, mu old man. My admiration for him cannot be measured -- Whenever they used to have raffles at home, I was the guy who won the turtle, And when my parents took us to Ireland for a family vacationb, walking down the streets of Bray, I used to find pound notes & stuff. I was always finding money -- You have to learn to play the game, not because you want to play the game, but because you want to know how to beat it -- Worst thing that can happen is you can screw up. I've done that before & it's not too damning. I've done some real stinkers. Luckily most were early on -- People who achieve minor success when they're so young should have a training school to go to. Someone ought to teach you how to handle it -- I don't go for that Freud stuff, It's a load of crap -- I get my ears boxed if I'm not home by midnight. Marriage is hard work -- When I was a little kid, my old man taught me the Ten Commandments. Then he said, now I'm going to tell you the eleventh. I said what was that? Thou salt no kid thyself, that's all. I knew what he meant. He lives by it -- I'd go into a bar, pull a few beers & put some scotch in like a depth charge -- I am being packaged here as if I were a hamburger, fat & tasty. The new sex symbol -- When I was 22 i was a right idiot. I guess when I'm 35 I'll think I was an idiot at 28. -- I used to misbehave a lot. I didn't have any direction. Does anyone? -- Hollywood is a factory. You have to realise that you're working in a factory & you're part of the mechanism. If you break down, you'll be replaced -- If I've still got my pants on in the second scene, I think they've sent me the wrong script -- I'm going to channel the maniac inside me. I'm going to get hold of it -- As an actor, you're an emotional prostitute, you get caught with your pants down. It's like putting your dick on a chopping block with the knowledge that no one is going to chop it off -- You quit drinking, you work much better. Your head is so clear -- My family means more to me than the artificial trappings of my career. If ever I had to choose between my career & my family, the wife & kids would definitely come out on top -- People must be sick of me, or they soon will be -- Heights attained by great men reached & kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they, while their companion slept, were tolling upwards in the night. Ladder of St Augustine : Henry Wadsworth Longfellow (1858) -- Oh yeah you bet money's important, I need something to paper the walls with & money makes me laugh. Sometimes I just sit there & laugh ... roll around in it, count it -- Whenever I'm tempted to go back to my drinking days, I know I can turn to Robyn. One look at her & I know it's not worth it -- I think that the word feminism is bull, it's a term invented by some woman who got jilted -- When you become famous, you don't know that you can't go back to a normal life any more, that you've walked into a flytrap, that it's dark down there & that there is really no way out of it. | |
