520 _aWith the outbreak of the Great War nearly 100 years ago, thousands of New Zealand men and women volunteered to serve their country and empire in the great struggle. Over the next four and a half years, nearly 100,000 members of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force saw active service during some of the most brutal warfare in history. They each have their stories, but most remain anonymous to history. This is the second edition in a series of volumes which seeks to reproduce photographic portraits of each member of the NZEF as a memorial to their service. This volume contains nearly 4100 photographs, drawn from a variety of sources, the majority of which are taken from original prints. It is produced on photo-quality paper, with each serviceperson named, numbered and their photograph credited.
