Written in 1898 by Herbert George Wells, The War of the Worlds is an early science fiction novel warning of an outer space invasion of our planet, Earth. Fleeing from a dying planet, the Martians invade planet Earth, landing in England destroying or capturing everything in their path. The alien invaders seem unstoppable. Humans are unable to swart their invasion and all efforts to stop them are crushed.
