Summary: Young Ricky and his Uncle Hec flee to the Ureweras when Social Welfare threatens to put him into a home, following the death of his beloved Aunt Bella. Uncle Hec and Ricky use all their skills to survive in the hard world of precipitous hills and impassable forest.
